DISCOVER WAE REBO VILAGE

If you are looking for a unique and mystical trip, you should visit the Wae Rebo village in Flores, Indonesia. Wae Rebo is a traditional village that is isolated and surrounded by mountains and forests. The village is famous for its cone-shaped houses that are covered with thatch from the roof to the ground. These houses are called Mbaru Niang and have five levels, each with a different function. The villagers are the descendants of the Manggarai tribe, who have preserved their culture and customs for generations. You can experience their way of life, their ceremonies, and their hospitality.

How to get there?

To reach the village, you have to trek for about 3 to 4 hours from Denge village, passing through scenic landscapes and rich vegetation. The trek is challenging but rewarding, as you will be greeted by the stunning view of the village and the warm welcome of the locals. Wae Rebo is a place where you can connect with nature and history, and learn more about the fascinating culture of Flores.

Itinerary

Day 1

Labuan Bajo – Waerebo Village (D)

In the morning, at 08:00, we will pick you up at the Meeting Point (Labuan Bajo Hotel). We will depart immediately to Wae Rebo. Upon arrival, we will take a short break in Denge Village, and then you will start walking for approximately 2 hours to reach the Wae Rebo village, accompanied by a Tour Guide and Porter. Once you arrive, you will participate in the traditional process of seeking permission to stay in the village, led by the village chief. As a gesture of hospitality, you will be served Wae Rebo Coffee.

The rest of the day is free for you to relax and interact with the locals. You can enjoy the leisurely time in the village. In the evening, we will have dinner together with a traditional Wae Rebo menu, followed by more free time for you to enjoy.

Day 2

Waerebo Village – Labuan Bajo (B)

After having breakfast, you can capture photos of the sunrise and interact with the local residents before enjoying the morning meal until it’s time to leave Wae Rebo (*We do not restrict the time, and it can be agreed upon together). Later, we will return to head towards Denge village. After that, you will be taken to visit the Spider Web Rice Field. If you are interested and time permits, you can also visit Todo village by informing our driver directly, with no additional charges except for the entrance fee which should be paid individually. Until the designated time, you will be escorted back to the Drop Point (Labuan Bajo Hotel).
